Perpetual Learning Communities ("PLC") mission is to create a positive and everlasting impact on adults with developmental disabilities lives through meaningful and personalized services.
Perpetual Learning Communities’ vision is to serve and support individuals with developmental disabilities who need comprehensive services while promoting lifelong growth to enhance the quality of life for both clients and families.
Life does not stop once an individual with developmental disabilities becomes an adult at age 18, even though state funding and resources are significantly decreased at this time. We believe in supporting, enhancing, and expanding quality of life for all through day programs, residential services, and behavior services. We strive to provide comprehensive services and quality of care that not only makes an interminable difference in their lives, but also creates opportunities for growth. This positive impact can take any form whether it’s small or large. We are dedicated to make PLC a place devoted to personalized care for all to thrive.
PLC will fill a vital need within our community! Currently there are very few, if any, programs that serve individuals 21 and over who require behavioral or 1:1 support so that they may continue to pursue their goals and have opportunities to learn, socialize, explore, contribute, achieve and be included in their communities.
Once our daughter turned 21 years old and aged out of the school system, she had no place to go. There were not any programs in our area that would accept her and support her needs. It was both heartbreaking and terrifying to think about her future. She had lost her support system that included vital services, people and opportunities. She went from having a daily schedule with meaningful relationships and opportunities for socialization, learning, growth, community exploration and a place to go where she felt safe, accepted and loved, to being home all day with very little to do. She lost a lot, and this was very hard on her. We have watched her lose skills, interest and motivation. PLC was founded out of necessity and a deep-rooted passion to serve the underserved so that they and their families can have a brighter future. We all deserve the opportunity to pursue our goals and dreams and be part of a community.
